The Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Teaching School Hub was one of the first six Teaching School Hubs designated by the DfE in January 2020 and is now a part of the wider network of 87 Teaching School Hubs nationally.
Our Hub, which is based at Harris Academy Chafford Hundred in Essex, is responsible for the following Local Authority Districts: Basildon, Brentwood, Castle Point, Maldon, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

If you would like to register your ECTs for an Induction to start in September 2024, please register ECTs on ECT Manager by 2nd September at the latest. Induction date cannot be backdated if registered after this date.

Creative Writing through the Arts
We are once again proud to be leading the Creative Writing Through the Arts programme to Primary and Secondary schools across the Chafford Hundred Teaching School Hub network from September 2024.
This programme is suitable for KS1-2 and KS3 class teachers. The programme will connect local schools with specialist artist practitioners from Music, Visual Arts and Drama to explore how to improve student writing.
Applications are now open. Primary and Secondary schools in Essex and London are eligible to apply.

Lead Practitioner Programme
Lead Practitioners are outstanding classroom practitioners who lead teaching and learning and demonstrate a whole school impact.
This programme is aimed at the next generation of outstanding practitioners who demonstrate a commitment to evidence-informed practice and the professional development of others. The Lead Practitioners role enables teachers to take the next step into whole school leadership whilst maintaining a focus on excellent teaching and learning.
The 18-month journey of enriched professional development is delivered through three training strands:
- Strand 1 – Classroom Practice
- Strand 2 – Leading Teaching & Learning
- Strand 3 – Whole School Impact
Cost: £625 per participant
Dates: Will start January 2025:
- Face to Face Session 1: Monday 20th January 2025
- Face to Face Session 2: Friday 7th March 2025
- Face to Face Session 3: Monday 15th September 2025
- Face to Face Session 4: Tuesday 14th October 2025
