Each individual school has its own character and something different to offer. At the same time, there are plenty of advantages to working in the Essex educational system as a whole.

Essex operates a two-tier system. We have a mixture of community, voluntary controlled, voluntary aided and foundation schools, free schools and academies. There are a small number of grammar schools which operate as selective schools using an 11+ test.
